🇨🇦 Ontario — Sailing Resources
Ontario is Canada’s sailing heartland. Lake Ontario, Georgian Bay, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, and the Trent-Severn Waterway give sailors remarkable variety — from the racing-focused Toronto waterfront to the wild, remote anchorages of Georgian Bay’s 30,000 Islands. The Great Lakes can produce ocean-like conditions; respect the weather and carry offshore safety equipment.

Marine Surveyors

- NAMS — Ontario Surveyors Directory
- Strong surveyor presence in Toronto, Kingston, Hamilton, Midland, and Georgian Bay areas — plan ahead in peak season (May–August)
- Great Lakes–specific concerns: Zebra mussel accumulation on hull, through-hulls, and impeller housings; check all underwater fittings. Osmotic blistering is less common in freshwater but occurs with poor barrier coat application. Inspect aluminum spars and deck hardware for galvanic corrosion in freshwater marina environments.
- Local yacht clubs (RCYC, Kingston YC, NHYC) are reliable sources for surveyor referrals with local knowledge
